Creatively Transforming the Landscapes in Kitchener/Waterloo
Company Story
Stumpf Outdoor Maintenance and Landscaping began in September 2012 by Jordan Stumpf, a grade 9 student at Grand River Collegiate Institute in Kitchener. Asked to shovel an elderly neighbour’s driveway that winter, he didn’t hesitate to say yes. A very humble beginning soon ballooned into 12 neighbours utilizing his services.
With the help of his family, he began to grow the business. He obtained a business licence, insurance and some advertising. A snow blower, shovels, small trailer and lawn tractor led to much bigger things.
By the end of the winter Jordan, with the help of his family, had a spring aerating and rolling season that bloomed into a summer mowing season with 20 customers.
Two years later Jordan began his post-secondary education at Carleton University in Ottawa studying Electrical Engineering. His family kept the company flourishing. In Jordan’s 3rd year he decided to stay in Ottawa and the company was officially acquired by his father and current owner James (Jim) Stumpf.
Jim had been working hard with Jordan from the beginning making transition seamless from employee to owner.
Gabriele (Gaby) Stumpf, Jordan’s mother and Jim’s wife, has been an integral part of the company from very early on as the Office Manager.
Mitchell Stumpf, Jordan’s brother, has been working with the company from the beginning doing all jobs and running all pieces of equipment.
